to federate or not to federate (identities), that is the question

Most of us have too many (electronic) identities these days.  Companies offering personalized services are at the core of this conundrum.  Luckily long ago people saw that this would be a problem and now there are technology solutions available that can help solve this problem without sacrificing security.

There are many articles written about the benefits of implementing federated identity (FId) to date so I won't go in to those details in this entry - for purposes of this article I will assume you are reading it because at a minimum you feel it's at least worth a look/investigating.  As you embark on your investigation I want to provide you with a framework to use when considering if you should consider pursuing federation for your business, and at the same time provide you with a framework to help produce a federated identity roadmap for your business.

Stay tuned for additional updates to this entry...

I thought I would open up my new blog with a simple posting.  I enjoy working with technology and using my expertise to advise my clients and colleagues.  This blog is dedicated to how we can best use technology, and the ways it has impacted, is impacting, and will impact us both personally and professionally.  Stay tuned for future postings.  In the mean time you can find some technology-related thoughts from me on Diamond's Information Advantage blog.
